Few young role models: finding your own path

Few people your age and in your situation have taken a path you can picture? Questions to reflect on, mentoring and what coaching can offer here.

Society and culture

You see few people of your age and in your situation who have taken a path you could imagine for yourself.

How it can show up

  • The successful people you hear about started from very different conditions than you.
  • Around you, you know no one who has taken the path you imagine.
  • You don't know how to find people you could learn from.
  • Without an example you find it hard to believe in your plan.

Questions for you

There are no right answers. Take the question that stays with you.

  • Whose path inspires you, even if it only partly fits yours?
  • Where could you meet people who are two or three steps further than you?
  • In what way can you already be an example for others today?
  • Which question would you ask a role model if you had the chance?

What coaching can do

Coaching can help you look for role models deliberately, also in parts rather than as a complete package, and turn that into your own steps.

When other help fits better

Mentoring programmes, alumni networks and professional communities connect you with people who have taken a similar path.

If it is too much right now

Coaching is not psychotherapy and not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact the emergency services where you are right away, or a crisis service near you.
