Fear about your career future: clarifying your options

When the question of the right career paralyses you: signs, questions to reflect on, and how career coaching makes options testable.

Study and work

Which jobs still have a future? What if you choose the wrong direction? The questions are big, and the answers stay unclear.

How it can show up

  • You read a lot about trends and feel less certain afterwards.
  • You only want to commit once you are completely sure.
  • Comparing yourself with people your age makes you feel further behind.
  • You have several ideas but don't really pursue any of them.

Questions for you

There are no right answers. Take the question that stays with you.

  • Which of your abilities is needed in almost every job?
  • Which direction would you try if you were allowed to change it again at any time?
  • Who could you talk to who works in that field?
  • What would be an experiment that gives you more clarity within a month?

Where coaching can help

Career coaching makes the big questions workable: what can you do, what do you want, what does the market offer? From there come options you can test in small steps instead of betting everything on one decision.

When other help fits better

If the fear about the future is with you constantly, keeps you awake or paralyses you, also talk to a licensed psychotherapist.

If it is too much right now

Coaching is not psychotherapy and not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact the emergency services where you are right away, or a crisis service near you.

Want to talk it through?

In a free 20-minute intro call we look at whether coaching is the right way to work on this for you. If it is not, I will tell you so.
