No trust in public institutions: what can still help

Offices, schools or authorities didn't help or take you seriously? Why trust fades, questions to reflect on and which independent services can help.

Society and culture

Offices, schools, authorities: you have experienced them not helping or not taking you seriously. So you don't turn to them even when you could.

How it can show up

  • You put off dealing with authorities because of bad experiences.
  • You don't believe complaints achieve anything.
  • You don't claim support you might be entitled to.
  • In front of officials you feel small and at their mercy.

Questions for you

There are no right answers. Take the question that stays with you.

  • Which matter are you putting off at the moment?
  • What would help you go into such a meeting well prepared?
  • Are there independent advice services that could accompany you?
  • Who around you already has experience with this?

What coaching can do

Coaching cannot create trust in institutions. It can help you prepare concrete matters, such as a difficult conversation with an authority.

When other help fits better

Independent advice services, ombudspersons or legal advice can support you in conflicts with authorities.

If it is too much right now

Coaching is not psychotherapy and not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact the emergency services where you are right away, or a crisis service near you.
