Too much social media: when five minutes turn into an hour

You reach for your phone without noticing and feel emptier afterwards? How social media overuse shows up, questions to reflect on and where coaching helps.

Life online

You reach for your phone without noticing, and five minutes turn into an hour. Afterwards you feel emptier rather than relaxed.

How it can show up

  • You open apps without consciously deciding to.
  • A few minutes regularly turn into an hour or more.
  • Without your phone you get restless.
  • Sleep, study or meeting people suffer from your screen time.

Questions for you

There are no right answers. Take the question that stays with you.

  • What are you looking for when you scroll through social media?
  • How do you feel after a long session?
  • Which app could you remove from your home screen for a week?
  • What would you like to do with the time you gain?

Where coaching can help

Coaching can help you recognise habits and triggers and shape your day so that the phone takes up less space.

When other help fits better

If you can no longer control your use despite serious consequences, for example for sleep, study or relationships, an addiction counselling service is the right place to go.

If it is too much right now

Coaching is not psychotherapy and not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact the emergency services where you are right away, or a crisis service near you.

Want to talk it through?

In a free 20-minute intro call we look at whether coaching is the right way to work on this for you. If it is not, I will tell you so.
