Cyberbullying: what you can do and where to get help
Insulted, exposed or threatened online? Why you should save evidence, where to report content and which services should help you first.
You are being insulted, exposed or threatened online, or images of you are being shared. It doesn't stop at your front door and can weigh very heavily.
How it can show up
- You receive insulting, humiliating or threatening messages.
- Images, rumours or private information about you are being spread.
- You are afraid to open messages or go online.
- You withdraw and feel ashamed, even though others are in the wrong.
Questions for you
There are no right answers. Take the question that stays with you.
- Have you already saved the messages or posts with screenshots?
- Which person around you could support you now?
- Do you know how to report the content to the platform?
- Are you being threatened or blackmailed? Then the police are the right place to go.
When other help fits better
Save evidence with screenshots, report the content to the platform and talk to someone you trust. In cases of threats, blackmail or intimate images, contact the police and a service for people affected by online abuse.
What coaching can do
Coaching is not the right kind of help here. Your protection comes first.
If it is too much right now
Coaching is not psychotherapy and not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact the emergency services where you are right away, or a crisis service near you.
