Constant family conflict: caught in the middle at home
Tension at home and you are caught in the middle? What coaching can do for your own role, and when family counselling is the right setting.
Family and the people around you
There is often tension at home, between your parents, with siblings or with you. You end up caught in the middle or withdraw to get some peace.
How it can show up
- You don't like coming home because the atmosphere is tense.
- You mediate between family members without wanting to.
- Arguments keep flaring up over small things.
- You feel you have to choose a side.
Questions for you
There are no right answers. Take the question that stays with you.
- Which conflicts are yours, and which are not?
- What do you need to feel safe and calm at home?
- Where could you consciously stay out of it?
- Which support outside the family would be within your reach?
Where coaching can help
Coaching can help you clarify your own role, stay out of conflicts that are not yours and have conversations that don't wear you down.
When other help fits better
For conflicts that involve the whole family, family counselling or family therapy is the right setting. If there is violence, your safety comes first: counselling services and, in an emergency, the police can help.
If it is too much right now
Coaching is not psychotherapy and not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact the emergency services where you are right away, or a crisis service near you.
Want to talk it through?
In a free 20-minute intro call we look at whether coaching is the right way to work on this for you. If it is not, I will tell you so.
