Not belonging anywhere: feeling lost between places and people
Not at home in your family, among friends, sometimes not even in your country? How it shows up, questions to reflect on and where coaching helps.
You don't feel fully at home anywhere: not in your family, not among friends, sometimes not in the country you live in.
How it can show up
- You don't feel you fully belong to one group or the other.
- In new places you remain an outsider for a long time.
- You don't know exactly where you want to go.
- Home is more of a question than a place for you.
Questions for you
There are no right answers. Take the question that stays with you.
- Where and with whom did you last feel you belonged?
- What does home mean to you?
- Which community would fit your values?
- Which small step could bring you closer to it?
Where coaching can help
Coaching can help you find out what belonging means to you, where you already experience it and which steps bring you closer to it.
When other help fits better
If feeling lost comes with loneliness, hopelessness or withdrawal, talk to a licensed psychotherapist. Communities of people with a similar background can also offer support.
If it is too much right now
Coaching is not psychotherapy and not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact the emergency services where you are right away, or a crisis service near you.
Want to talk it through?
In a free 20-minute intro call we look at whether coaching is the right way to work on this for you. If it is not, I will tell you so.
