No motivation anymore: when your drive is gone

You know what to do, but nothing pulls you forward? How loss of motivation shows up, questions to reflect on, and when other help fits better.

What goes on inside

You know what you should do, but the drive is missing. Goals that used to pull you forward now feel distant or pointless.

How it can show up

  • You put off tasks even though you know they matter.
  • Goals that used to excite you now feel distant.
  • You wait for the drive to come back by itself.
  • When you do get something done, you hardly feel pleased about it.

Questions for you

There are no right answers. Take the question that stays with you.

  • When did you last feel truly motivated, and what was behind it?
  • Is your current goal really yours, or more someone else's?
  • What is draining your energy most at the moment?
  • What would be a step so small that you could still take it today?

Where coaching can help

Coaching asks whether the goal is still yours, whether it has grown too big, or whether something else is draining your energy. From there you can set goals that fit you again.

When other help fits better

If the lack of drive comes with low mood, sleep problems or the feeling that nothing brings joy any more, talk to a doctor or a licensed psychotherapist.

If it is too much right now

Coaching is not psychotherapy and not a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact the emergency services where you are right away, or a crisis service near you.

Want to talk it through?

In a free 20-minute intro call we look at whether coaching is the right way to work on this for you. If it is not, I will tell you so.
